seven games in.
November 12, 2008
the past two games have been a bit close. closer than they should have been. but i’ll take it.
but you know what? i missed that feeling. i missed the feeling of those close nail biters and the sigh of relief. i missed screaming at the tv, for the lakers and against the refs. at this time, it’s really unhealthy for me because i’m sick. but i guess the way i see it, basketball is my remedy. and it makes me feel better… wait a minute, no its not. my nose seems to have gotten clogged up and my throat is burning. but the lakers are 7-0, so it’s all good.
it’s been awhile since my lakers have played and to have games that mattered back, and to have them winning, it feels good again. and early on, the lakers are looking good, or in kristian’s words, “they look scary good”. and i can’t agree more. the lakers look like two different teams this year. and i believe that odom going to the bench is actually one of the best moves of the season. it makes the lakers soooo deep, it makes them scary good.
the first 5: mamba, pau, fish, bynum and vlad-rad = solid* . with the exception of which vlad-rad you get. but other than that, they look solid. but when you get into that bench, thats where the lakers can really beat you. the second team is quick, and only makes me miss ronnie turiaf just a bit more. jordan, lamar, ariza, sasha, and whoever are a starting group that could handle their own. the first team can beat you slowly but surely, then put in the second team and they’ll run you out the gym.
now i know what kinda beat them last year was “toughness”. but with ariza and bynum playing at 100%, i think things can change. boston lost james posey so we don’t have to worry about him this season. and kendrick perkins is probably one of the most annoying looking players in the league. i think the lakers can beat them and the worlds greatest player, paul pierce. but in tonight’s game james posey ran on to the back of bynum and almost under cut him on the back of his knee, and you know what bynum did? he shoved him and got a technical foul. i think its showing that there’s a lot more fight in us now. and i was happy that he did that, especially to posey.
anyways. im going to wind this blog down by saying that the lakers look great, and i have a good feeling about this season. my dad said they might win 75. i laughed. i talked to my friend jason, he said the same. i laughed. i said i dont want the lakers to be a patriot. jason then said, 59 wins, but 16 wins in the playoffs. and then i finally agreed.
go lakers.
REDEEMED !

redeemed. team.
that was probably the best game i have seen in a looooooonnnnnnggggg time. and as im writing this, the team is steppin up getting their medals!!! the second half was UNBELIEVABLE! my boy kobe bryant did his thing, the game was getting so close, up by only 5 points with a rushing spain team, kobe hits a 3 pointer and gets fouled to get the team up by 9. dwayne was BIG in the first half, went 7 for 7 in his big stretch.
im not gonna front but spain was good. my boy pau played! and his little brother was good too. fernandez was hitting 3′s, navarro was getting inside at will, rubio was good for 17. that team was good. im just super happy that team usa won. this was the feeling i was supposed to have with the lakers, and it all came out.
the last 2 minutes of the game were so good. and i wouldnt have it any other way. with all the stuff that the team has gone through for 4 years and with all the blowouts that have been going on, this close and tight match is what i have been waiting to see. team usa, is legit. they overcame a 5 point deficit, broke the zone defenses, played their own defense, and took their shots. you guys must watch that game, i believe usa channel will replay it tomorrow TWICE. it should go down as a classic, and hopefully espn thinks that way too.
but like i said, that game was unbelievable.
i can breathe again.
the early olympic edition.

normally i would even think about waking up at 5 am for some basketball, but with the really bad broadcast times of the games and me with no tivo, i wanted to watch it this time. kinda sad that i don’t have tivo in this hi-tech digital world but oh well, it just shows the love i have for basketball.
i wanted to watch this game for the mere fact that australia was probably the toughest opponent for the usa. and after watching the first quarter, you could see why they are. it was scary watching, they couldn’t hit any free throws and were struggling hitting at a 40% clip. and australia was draining their 3 pointers. they got up by 9 but only led the first quarter by a single point. it was too close for my own good.
the second quarter was a lot better for the team. they went small against the big lineup of the australians and started to run. though it did get close again with good play from patrick mills, usa started to play again. they still could be playing better defense. with them starting to pull away up by 9, daron williams hits a buzzer beater 3 pointer to end the half to give us breathing room up by 12.
and now, in the 3rd quarter, they truly have pulled away. its a 26 point game. and im sure they will win now, not unless they let that lead go, which i hope does not happen. this won’t be my last early ass blog, team usa still has 2 more games, which i doubt will get a primetime slot. anyways, im going to enjoy watching the rest of the game now. cue marvin gaye.
guess who’s back?

wow
well, that picture is actually really disturbing. i caught this on chrissi’s myspace and had to post it on here. but anyways. looks like sasha vujacic is going to remain a laker for the next 3 years. after a great post season to remember and forget, the machine finally got his due. signed a 3 year 15 million dollar contract with the lakers. i think this deal is good, we don’t really want to break something that’s not broken. i do miss ronnie though. and i know he’ll be a good role player out in golden state.
i really can’t wait to see how the new season will play out, with the new and improved starting line up. d-fish, kobe, lamar?, pau, and bynum, it should be real interesting on playing time and shots between everyone. my first game of the year is october 24th against the SEATTLE SUPERSONICS (i don’t care if they’re from oklahoma city. they will always be the sonics to me.) i will be talking about the lakers all over this blog, too bad if you don’t like it.
